A little over a year ago I bought a Canon Ae-1 and last week I found the first roll of film I shot on it and finally had it processed (Its been a crazy year ok, in the middle of being pregnant, giving birth and raising a baby I sort of misplaced a lot of things). But honestly, this highlighted for me why I love film so much and why I have been missing it for the instant-gratification Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08122161242977311850noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121586418955952431.post-16047301361126645942011-11-07T12:51:00.000+01:002011-11-07T12:51:57.744+01:00A Sunday Morning WalkHave I mentioned lately how much I love Berlin? Taking a walk at sunrise in Autumn and its like falling in love with this city all over again.

Its really been a long time since I posted on this blog. I have been carefully considering whether or not I even wanted to keep it, whether or not it fits into my 'new life'. So much has changed for me in the past year, not the least of which is that I am a mom to this very adorable little boy.
See what I mean? Adorable. One of those things being neglected is this poor 'ol blog.
But today, I am super excited to share with you whats new in my Etsy store: Canvas!
I have wanted to sell Canvas Gallery Wraps on my store since I opened it - I have several hanging in my house and I think they Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08122161242977311850noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121586418955952431.post-83713787297720090442010-08-31T12:06:00.000+02:002010-08-31T12:06:11.957+02:00Clear Skies
Its a beautiful day in Berlin with clear blue skies and a cool breeze. I am 14 weeks pregnant today, and despite the stress planning for a new addition can bring - I am feeling excited optimistic. Things are just good when the sun is shining, right?Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08122161242977311850noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121586418955952431.post-4058602600147018522010-06-29T11:36:00.000+02:002010-06-29T11:36:11.562+02:00Christoper Street Day Parade in Berlin
A week or so ago I got to go watch Berlin's Gay Pride Parade. The city has a long and interesting history regarding the acceptance and treatment of GLBT people (I encourage to read about 1920s Berlin and its Cabaret culture, and the subsequent well-known persecution of Gays under Hitler) - but it certainly is open and accepting now (one of the many many reasons I love Berlin!). That picture above illustrates reason no. 357 why I love Berlin - my terrace. I have never had an outdoor space anywhere I have lived and I can't possibly describe how happy it makes me.
A week ago it was like 10 degrees Celcius (50 F) and it was grey as can be - then like one day later we woke up and the sun was shining, it was 27 degrees (80 F) and it was like summer suddenly and Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08122161242977311850noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121586418955952431.post-82530278701069660602010-05-10T17:15:00.004+02:002010-05-10T17:39:26.774+02:00Properly Equipped - Part IISo whenever people ask the question "what camera (or lens or tripod or whatever) do you use?" I always wonder why anyone would care what I use? I have never, until this spring, attempted to grow anything in my entire life. I have never even had a houseplant. I have been obsessed with the food and flavors of the region - fresh goat cheese & olives, roasted lamb, scallops, sardines, fresh herbs, Rosé, and of course truffles. In large part, its because I have been spending an enormous amount of time on Etsy - and not tending to my own shop - but instead rooting around finding all kinds of things I decide I really really must have. I left for a long trip to the United States on December 15 (my first trip home in the year and half I have lived in Germany) and got sick pretty much the day I was supposed to come home. It was a huge circus with tons of people, most of which weren't speaking German. It was also terrible terrible weather. I would at least like to visit the Mosel wine regions here in Germany. It was a place I had been dying to get into ever since I moved to Berlin, and wish I could go back to many times (unfortunately you have to pay the security guards to get in). Once I get over the loss of summer I love Autumn wholeheartedly. There are so many good things to eat, such beautiful colors on the trees, cool crisp autumn air....oh wait, except in Berlin we skipped that part and went straight to freezing bitter cold winter air.
