Cinco de Mayo

Ahhhh...Mexico. Hard to believe its been a year since I was there, and now I am so far away from you. I will be dreaming of Ceviche and Aguas Frescas tonight.

Highlights from Mexico

Mexico is amazing. The people are so warm and friendly - it is such a healthy culture. We enjoyed talking to all the great people we met as wee spent our days on the beach and exploring the state of Sinaloa. We had dinner in a different sidewalk cafe every night and feasted on Ceviche and Mexican pastries during the day (betcha didn't know Mazatlan is the shrimp capital of the world, which basically makes it like our own personal heaven). Me and Cory have always dreamed of retiring in Mazatlan, and after meeting quite a few American retirees there (mostly from Seattle, interestingly enough) we are even more determined to do just that. I haven't had time to really edit any photos but here are a few more highlights of the trip - click on the photos to take you to my flickr site where you can see all the shots.





This woman made us chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, homemade queso fresco, refried beans, and homemade tortillas. It was transcendental. Best food of my life.




The man above is a leather worker- he makes sandals for field workers.

The religious devotion permeates everything in Mexico. The cathedrals are a sharp contrast to those we saw in Spain last year - the ones in Mexico are an eclectic mix of random building materials and plastic effigies but instead of being full of tourists are full of people praying, even on a weekday afternoon.

I don't have much time, as I am very very busy watching the sunset from my room's private balcony, but I thought I would give you a little taste of my trip so far. I will be back and blogging next week!
